Bridgeport Public Schools, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, seeks an innovative, visionary, and dedicated educational leader to serve as its next Superintendent of Schools. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead one of Connecticut's largest and most diverse school districts and to help shape the future of public education for approximately 20,000 students.

Bridgeport is Connecticut's largest city and a vibrant, culturally rich community located along Long Island Sound. The city is conveniently positioned within Fairfield County, approximately 60 miles from New York City, and provides access to leading universities, healthcare institutions, cultural organizations, businesses, and community partners.

Bridgeport Public Schools serves students from prekindergarten through Grade 12 and adult education across approximately 36 campuses and specialized programs. The district employs more than 1,300 classroom teachers and a broad team of administrators, support professionals, paraprofessionals, and operational staff committed to helping every student thrive.

The district's schools include comprehensive high schools, neighborhood elementary and middle schools, magnet programs, alternative educational settings, and specialized learning opportunities. Signature programs include the Bridgeport Regional Aquaculture Science and Technology Education Center, Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Multi-Magnet High School, Central Magnet High School, and a growing range of career, technical, bilingual, multilingual, and special education programs.

Application Process

Application Process Begins Mid-September

Interested candidates should be prepared to submit the following documents when the application opens:

  • A completed application
  • A cover letter explaining the candidate's interest in Bridgeport Public Schools and how the candidate's experience aligns with the district's needs
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae
  • Three current professional letters of recommendation
  • Unofficial university transcripts confirming degree completion
  • Evidence of a valid Connecticut Superintendent of Schools certification, commonly referred to as the 093 certification, or documentation demonstrating eligibility to obtain the required certification
  • Any additional materials identified in the official application instructions

Applications must be received by October 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Incomplete applications or materials submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
