    < Back Katherine Stahl Associate Dr. Katherine A. Dougherty Stahl is a literacy consultant who focuses on translating research into practice. Before entering academia, Dr. Stahl taught in public elementary school classrooms for over 25 years. She was Clinical Professor of Reading at New York University (2006-2021), where she taught graduate courses and served as Director of both the Literacy Program and NYU Literacy Clinic. As a consortium member of the NYS RTI/MTSS Demonstration School Projects (K-5 2010-2015; Middle School 2015-2020)., Dr. Stahl worked with school reform efforts across the state of New York. She is the author or coauthor of many articles, chapters, and books, including the widely used “ Assessment for Reading Instruction .” Dr. Stahl is a recipient of the Jeanne Chall Visiting Researcher Award from Harvard University and the Teaching Excellence Award from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University.

  • Wheatley Moylan

    < Back Wheatley Moylan Associate Over the course of her 18 year career in the field of education, Wheatley Moylan has served in a variety of roles including teacher, staff developer, and education consultant. During her 15 years teaching secondary students in and around Detroit, Michigan, Wheatley’s desire to impact teaching and learning expanded. She was known for eagerly supporting student-led initiatives and coaching her colleagues on technological tools for improved learning outcomes. She fostered student groups from “The Dress Code Consultants” in a Detroit Charter school to the “Social Justice Club” in a public Warren high school. Her Spanish students petitioned and requested her to co-found the AP Spanish program. Together they created a course that had tripled in enrollment when she stepped away from the classroom a few years later. As a middle school teacher, she collaborated to create a foundational Spanish curriculum that was adopted districtwide. Wheatley was also tapped by the Chief Academic Officer to co-create the district’s technology curriculum for grades 6-8. A foundational resource for this was 21Things4Students, an ISTE-aligned online resource to help students improve their technology proficiency. Wheatley’s suggested edits earned her an invitation from the program’s creators to serve on their Advisory Team within the Regional Educational Media Center (REMC) Association of Michigan. Wheatley also participated in Common Sense Media’s creation of Graphite, a site for teachers, as an EdTech Mentor and Beta Tester. As a consultant, she has coached and trained teachers and district staff across the United States and supported educators in other countries. She has designed courses and learning resources for classrooms, schools, and entire districts. To enhance her skills, Wheatley became a Google Certified Trainer, Microsoft Educator Trainer, and ISTE Certified Educator. To help Michigan’s schools address the teacher shortage, she has contributed to an innovative team focused on pathways for aspiring teachers of all education levels. Regardless of her role, Wheatley impacts learners, educational staff, and learning processes for the better and saves staff time and energy by creating learning tailored to their needs and goals. Wheatley received her BA in Spanish from the University of Michigan and studied at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain during her undergraduate work. She holds a Professional Teaching Certificate in the state of Michigan for secondary Spanish, Technology, and Health as well as an MA in Educational Technology from Michigan State University.

  • Mike Redmond

    < Back Mike Redmond Senior Associate Dr. Mike Redmond is completing his 10th year as a school Superintendent. Currently, Redmond is in his fifth year as the Superintendent of Schools in Shakopee, Minnesota, a suburban community located southwest of Minneapolis. Shakopee Public Schools serves nearly 8000 students in grades K-12. Prior to this appointment, Mike was the Superintendent in Goodhue, MN. Under Redmond’s tenure as superintendent, he led both districts to successful voter approved campaigns. In 2018, Goodhue approved the largest construction project in the school district's history. In November 2021, the voters in Shakopee, by a nearly two to one margin, approved both questions of an operating levy of $1266 per pupil. Prior to this levy vote, Shakopee Public Schools was the only public school district in the Twin Cities without a voter approved operating levy. After the vote, the district moved from having no levy to having one that provides the Twin Cities metro average in terms of per pupil revenue. An article co-authored by Don Lifto and Redmond, detailing the Shakopee levy journey was published in the December 2022 issue of the AASA School Administrator. The levy outcomes in the role of superintendent are a continuation of previous successes in Redmond’s now 34-year career in education. As a principal he led the cultural and academic turnaround of a middle school, he was selected Mahtomedi’s Teacher of the Year, and as a high school girls soccer coach was selected five times in a fourteen year career as the Minnesota Coach of the Year, and one time as the National Coach of the Year, while coaching teams in Mahtomedi that won four state championships and were nationally ranked. Redmond earned his Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership from University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky in 2016, and his BA and MA from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities). Mike enjoys working with aspiring educators as an adjunct professor for Winona State University (Minnesota) teaching courses in School Management, School Law, and School Finance. He truly enjoys working in the areas of team and leadership development, student learning initiatives, and executive coaching, and levy campaigns. Even though it wasn’t a planned part of his career path, through experience in multiple situations, Redmond has developed a unique and extensive skill set in leading an organization through turbulent times.

    < Back Chris Carlone Associate Mr. Christopher Carlone is a dedicated music educator, author, and sound designer with over a decade of experience in program coordination and public school teaching.     < Back Zac Robbins Senior Associate Dr. Zachary Scott Robbins is an experienced Superintendent and the author of Restorative Justice Tribunal and Ways to Derail Jim Crow Discipline in Schools and Becoming a Social Justice Educator . He has “turned around” schools in Boston and Las Vegas and is honored to be the 2022 Nevada High School Principal of the Year. Dr. Robbins was the 2021 City of Las Vegas African-American Trailblazer in Education Award Recipient, and in 2021 he was the President-Elect of the Secondary School Principals Association of Nevada. He publishes commentary and news articles for various media outlets and makes frequent radio and television appearances to discuss politics and education. Dr. Robbins and his team established the first restorative justice program in Nevada. His school was a training hub in restorative practices for Nevada educators. He coached state leaders in restorative practices on behalf of the Nevada Department of Education and informed education policy development. Dr. Robbins continues training teachers and school leaders in restorative practices through online courses he has developed and through occasional consulting engagements. Dr. Robbins has served on the board of the YMCA of Snohomish County and the Southern Nevada ACLU. He has presented at national and international conferences. He is the primary Instructor of the Learning and Justice For All Institute, and he trains teachers and school leaders nationwide. Zac was educated at Howard University in Washington, DC, and he earned his Ph.D. in Education Administration at the Boston College Lynch School of Education.

    < Back Joelle Magyar Senior Associate Joelle M. Magyar is a distinguished educational leader in the State of Ohio. She most recently served as Superintendent of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools for the past seven years, where she attained a number of important accomplishments, including guiding the BBHCSD to a #7 ranking in the entire state of more than 600 schools. Maygar has also led the district to successfully pass two issues requesting over $44 million to construct one of the most state-of-the-art K-5 educational facilities in Northeast Ohio. Superintendent Magyar has a reputation for reshaping the role of successful and effective superintendent communications which has resulted in her winning the 2020 Bob Grossman Leadership in Communication Award winner, the highest communications honor for an educational leader in the entire country, by the National School Public Relations Association and also the 2019 Crain’s Cleveland Business’ Women in School Leadership Award Winner. In addition, Joelle has won the Barney Dunnan Award on multiple occasions, which is a special honor that recognizes the superintendent and the school district that has the highest overall Value Added Gain Index in the State of Ohio, and is presented by your organization, the Buckeye Association of School Administrators. Maygar has served as a keynote speaker on several occasions at several statewide conferences, particularly on the subjects of Technology and Mental Health. She has been selected by her peers at the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (B.A.S.A.) to represent school districts across the state to testify before the Ohio General Assembly on various topics impacting students.
