Jack Mitchell

Dr. Jack R. Mitchell is the Assistant Superintendent for Business at the Valley Stream School District Twenty-Four in Valley Stream, NY. In that capacity, he develops comprehensive budgets and manages all fiscal operations. Other duties include overseeing capital projects, transportation, payroll and accounts payable and the supervising of all facilities/business office staff and related affairs. He has held that position since 2015. Prior to that, he was the Business Services Supervisor at the Ossining School District in Ossining, NY. Additionally, within finance Jack has worked at financial institutions such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase, performing credit analysis, investment selection, estate and retirement planning for over 300 clients with over $110M in assets. Moreover, in his first stent in education, he served for eight years as a secondary school math teacher for the New York City Department of Education and as an adjunct professor.Â
Jack holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Binghamton University, two Master’s degrees from Long Island University in Mathematics and School District Business Leadership, and a Doctoral degree in Education Administration and Supervision from St. John’s University. Â
Jack is a member of the Knights of Columbus and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. He serves on the Board of the Nassau County Cooperative and the Association of School Business Officials NY (ASBO NY). He is also a volunteer on the Editorial Committee for ASBO International. He recently won the Advocate of the Year award for ASBO NY for his award-winning podcast, SBO Perspectives.
